About Us

Karli (or as I refer to her: Karmen) is an Earth sign, and reminds me of the forest. In our novel that is still being written, her character's name is Ivy. It fits well, I think. She is one of the most artistic people you could meet, but is entirely too modest to even admit she knows what to do with a pencil. In fact, I can see her scrunching her nose and shaking her head at the thought of me even writing this. I cannot think of one food item she would not eat without buffalo sauce on it, and she has inherited superb culinary skills from her mom. Karli is usually barefoot and inspired me as a child to get outdoors and find my inner "wild". She has mastered the art of taking care of the others, and always makes sure someone else's leaky roof in their home is fixed before her own. She is an anchor to me in many ways - she keeps me from drifting too far into the abyss of my own mind, and she is the strongest person that I know. Karmen's soul is a bright, burning, and fiery flash of yellow mixed with orange. Her words are hypnotizing and presence is one that I wish I could match. She has an obsession with all things sour and is easily stressed. On a good day, Karmen is only ten minutes late for class. She is much braver than me simply by the fact she takes her coffee black...no more on that really needs to be said, right? In another life, we were sisters - she was the one who got us into trouble for coming into the house with muddy feet and stray animals. Most importantly, her inner fire is and always will be the light that guides me back home.

Ken is not only my zodiac sister but one who seems to have had a link with my brain since 13 years ago. She has always loved the rush of a quick pace, and I can even mentally picture her content face or obvious frown if she is/isn’t at pace with life’s rushing current. This can be literally compared to her fear of backed-up traffic as she is trying to reach her destination, or metaphorically tied to how her constant thirst for knowledge for everything around her keeps her charged like a battery. Her mind rarely stops, and she’s typically found pondering the details of her yoga class (and a million of other things) later in the week while she’s having her oatmeal and coffee. She truly thrives in spontaneity and adores bringing light to life’s “what if’s” whether it be getting that extra lottery ticket, stopping at a sketchy coffee stop, or attempting to furnish a barn with yard sale furniture all in one day. Her humor is simplistic yet quick, and her laughter is explosive to the point that you can easily find yourself in tears and with a cramped stomach over a single sentence someone said. She savors life’s most freshest productions; new sights, recently-released movies, ripe blackberries and bananas, a bright morning at the start of a good day, (she’s even discovering a newfound love for plants), etc. Ken has always been the lit match to my wick, the extra gust of wind while running, the green light at an intersection; you get my point. I love conjuring up idea after idea, and I can easily cock the gun of creativity, but Ken’s the one who always pulls the trigger. Without her, I doubt I would’ve enjoyed or even experienced a massive portion of my life’s adventures. It’s often that we make the comparison of one another to the moon and sun, hence the whole core of this eclipse idea and permanent ink on the bones of our wrists, but try as I might, I truly can’t think of a better analogy. We are two separate beings, but can be found doing similar things, sharing linked thoughts, and always having parallel purposes (Honestly, it can get a bit scary at times). She’s the one who casts light on things that are in the shadows, desiring to never stop at shining down on the truths of the world. She’s admired, strong, driven, bright, and ever-moving, but simultaneously always there for those who seek her out. She’s most certainly the moon. ðŸŒ™

~Karli
